As Covid-19 tightens its grip around the world, South African Football Association (SAFA) President Dr Danny Jordaan has added his voice and turned to sporting lessons to encourage South Africans to play their part in an attempt to fight the pandemic.
“To win a match we need discipline; we need everyone to follow the game plan, and we need to follow the advice of the medical staff,” he said in statement as reported by Safa.net. “Undisciplined person will get a yellow card or a red card. This will lead to the team being defeated”.
Jordaan added that “we are team South Africa, learning the lessons from Team Asia and Team Europe. Let us follow the game plan and instructions from our Head Coach, President Cyril Ramaphosa and his Technical Team as well as the Medical Staff.
“Stay at home, wash your hands, keep social distance and follow the advice of the medical team. Let us do it for Team South Africa. Remember we have to flatten the curve; every infection is an attack against us, every death is a goal against us. This is a final we cannot afford to lose. Let us give Covid-19 the red card (expulsion)”.
